Y.K. Byun
변용국
Y.K. Byun's paintings reflect on healing and life as a minority living in the United States, expressed through a minimal formal language. His work consists of repeatedly stamping countless dots or pushing up paint with a painting knife to build layered textures, evoking restrained peace and condensed energy. He holds a BFA and MFA in Western painting from Seoul National University and an MFA from Pratt Institute, and has exhibited widely at venues including Soohoh Gallery, SP Gallery, and the Seoul Arts Center.
