Cha Min Young
차민영

Cha Min Young (b. 1977) renders the systems and components of urban living with precise, sculptural detail inside travel suitcases, inviting viewers to contemplate familiar city spaces anew. Her "Inter-object" series places elaborate miniature models and video of urban space inside suitcases as a metaphor for mobility, reproduction, and the private, unconscious interior of a person's life. She holds a doctorate in visual media and a BFA/MFA in printmaking from Hongik University, where she is currently a visiting professor. Her work has been acquired by the Government Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, POSCO Art Museum, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, and Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, among others, and she has exhibited internationally in Hong Kong, Dubai, Shanghai, Beijing, Macau, and London.
