Alice in the WWW - Who in the www am I?

Modern people believe they express their thoughts and imagination honestly. Do they, really?

We are delighted to present, at Soohoh Gallery in the summer of 2018, the solo exhibition of Dongeun Lee, winner of the 9th Soohoh Artist award, who translates her thinking and philosophy into contemporary art. Dongeun Lee lives and works actively in the UK, breathing alongside Oscar Wilde's free spirit while lightly unraveling Kafka's existential anguish.

Amid the rapid advance of IT and the fourth industrial revolution, humanity grows ever more alienated: under the banner of "consistency," a homogenized control imposes suffocating restraint and conditioned thinking, so that the free soul, having lived out its days, seems fated only for a lonely death.

In opening this exhibition, we pray that we — beings living finite lives — remain true to ourselves and to one another, communicate honestly, and never lose our way, whatever the circumstances.

For this exhibition at Soohoh, Dongeun Lee is joined in dialogue by friends of diverse cultures and experiences (Jung Hwa Kim, Hwan Hee Lee, Doyu Min Seo, Seo Rui Ochi, Yugo Ito), and we believe this luminous encounter will give rise to many shared stories.
