Dayeon Hwang: Solo Exhibition

Since 2017, Soohoh Gallery has discovered new artists through its "Soohoh Artist" open call, and along the way built relationships with many working toward good causes. We are delighted to open the gallery's very first solo exhibition, featuring artist Dayeon Hwang.

Through calm horizontal compositions and simple colors, the artist gives contemporary form to natural elements — sea and sky — that modern people turn to for peace of mind. Looking at her paintings, one feels released from the anxiety born of the gap between ideal and reality, finding inner calm, while realizing that the very place where we stand is already utopia, already paradise. Rather than following the currents of the times, Dayeon Hwang creates according to her own inner will, in a spirit that seems to echo the thinking of David Hockney.

We celebrate Dayeon Hwang's exhibition at Soohoh Gallery, carried by a tender and peaceful sensibility and storytelling, and hope everyone finds a moment of true healing through it.
