(ab)Normal

A group member's behavior is considered normal when it coincides with what other members of the group would likely do in the same situation, or when it does not deviate significantly from that behavior. Abnormal behavior is, at its core, simply anything that is not normal, though the word often carries a connotation of "maladjustment." The concept of normality is sometimes subjectively formed and sometimes operationally defined... Crime, then, is abnormal for the individual, since it is confined to a minority, yet normal for society, since criminals exist in every society.
