French-born artist Jean-Marie Haessle relocated to Soho, New York, where he continued his practice for many years. While remaining true to the spirit of French modernism, he also absorbed the all-over painting approach seen in American Abstract Expressionists such as de Kooning and Pollock.

In the water drops of master Kim Tschang-Yeul, who captivated the world with his water-drop paintings, all of humanity resides. Through this single motif of the water drop, the artist continues to express the full range of human joy and sorrow.
