Jiyoung Han Solo Exhibition: Childhood in Forest

"A child met in the forest — perhaps therefore a forgotten self." The artist, raised and still living close to forest and nature in a small Bulgarian city, paints nature and the forest as a comforting, ever-familiar presence, akin to a mother's embrace — a presence that has shaped her own character, and now perhaps her child's as well.

Jiyoung Han studied religious art in Bulgaria and works primarily in oil pastel, using its distinctive texture to convey a soft, natural gentleness that offers viewers calm and peace. Recurring images of children evoke the love embodied by the figure of "mother," offering everyday comfort and healing.
