"The Glint of Pathos: A Dialectical Leap of Form"

"History," "time," and "life" have been Sunwang Qwon's subjects since 2005 — an artistic search for the individual's existential time within the vast category of history. The recurring "lines" and "waves" in his work are flashes of an instant: a kite's string suddenly snapping, the shape of the line resembling a wave, a mark that, like the ever-flowing water, can never be redrawn the same way twice.

Through his concept of "prainting," the artist explores the complexity of an inner world of past, memory, recollection, and the unconscious — a deep contemplation on human existence.

The artist states: "I hope everyone will realize how precious the flowing time and moments given to us are, and, beyond one's own physical existence, will think deeply about the meaning and purpose of existence. I hope that everyone who views the works of Prainting Chorus will find, through art, the meaning of being and the purpose of life."
