Kim Yeo-woon Solo Exhibition: My Attitude Toward Your Variable

Light is the white of the canvas — within the world of painting, the only light comes from the white ground, the place and space of painting itself. Everything painted upon it receives light from that white. Behind painting's cracked seams lies darkness; in Kim Yeo-woon's paintings, beings rise from that darkness, breaking through the canvas toward the light. White is a "world-sign," a sign of primordial salvation.

Kim Yeo-woon has long explored the direction humanity should take and messages of coexistence. This exhibition features a large-scale installation — an overwhelming mass symbolizing "variable X," a wavering rod of life shaken by variables, and viewer participation — through which "my" and "your" solidarity overcomes variables and dissolves the boundary between self and other.
