Miyoung Choi: Embrace

"The sky embraces everything." Returning to her UK studio in 2019, the artist met a sky and land utterly changed by the pandemic — a time of enduring stillness and isolation. Through long confinement and sleepless nights of unexpected physical pain, she found that the sky held all of it — it embraced everything. Small leaves scattered across the sky in her canvases are at once burnt tinder, painful thorns, and wings taking flight as new life.

This is Miyoung Choi's second solo exhibition at Soohoh Gallery, following her Soohoh Artist open-call debut in 2019, presenting new work made in the UK with deepened contemplation.
