Choi Mi-young Solo Exhibition: Embrace

"The sky embraces everything." Returning to her UK studio in 2019, the artist met a sky and land utterly changed by the pandemic — a time of enduring stillness and isolation. Through long confinement and sleepless nights of unexpected physical pain, she found that the sky held all of it — it embraced everything. Small leaves scattered across the sky in her canvases are at once burnt tinder, painful thorns, and wings taking flight as new life.

This is Choi Mi-young's second solo exhibition at Soohoh Gallery, following her Soohoh Artist open-call debut in 2019, presenting new work made in the UK with deepened contemplation.
