Sangseop Lee

Sangseop Lee's sculptural practice treats nature and self as one, expressing form through sa-ui (idea-image expression) — repetitive, meditative processes such as peeling and wrapping thread around boxwood, or welding hammered copper pipe, that lead to a quiet, meditative inner state. He holds a BFA and MFA in sculpture from Kyongwon University, and has received awards including the Grand Prize at the 4th Seongnam Cultural Foundation Art Competition, with solo exhibitions including the 2019 International Sculpture Festa and Heesu Gallery (2018).
