Kyungja Chun

Kyungja Chun (1924–2015) was a pioneer of Korean color painting who transformed sorrow and solitude into the vivid splendor of flowers and women. She studied at the Tokyo Women's Art School and taught Oriental painting at Hongik University for decades. Her later travel sketches and autobiographical essays, paired with her paintings, won wide popular acclaim and established a distinctly personal style within the tradition of Korean color painting.
